Ashly's Recommended Yoga Gear

Updated: Sep 20, 2023

Starting your Yoga practice or jumping back into it from a break can be an exciting start to a new adventure, but we all dread the long search for the right gear. The past few years have brought concern with the drop in product quality and the explosion of choices to scroll through. Here I have carefully hand-picked the best products that I have used and absolutely love for my practice, whether I'm in the comfort of my own home, the park, the beach, or the studio.

Yoga Mats

Money Saver: Gaiam Essentials Thick Yoga Mat Fitness & Exercise Mat with Easy-Cinch Yoga Mat Carrier Strap, 72"L x 24"W x 2/5 Inch Thick

I recommend this mat for those who tend to have joint and knee pain. It's also very lightweight!

Higher Quality & Money Saver: Gaiam Yoga Mat - Premium 5mm Dry-Grip Thick Non Slip Exercise & Fitness Mat for Hot Yoga, Pilates & Floor Workouts (68" or 78"L x 24" or 26"W x 5mm)

This Yoga mat is great for any location and type of Yoga.

High Quality: Take Form Yoga Mat 5mm Made With FSC-Certified Rubber, By lululemon. *Not Sponsored*

I recommend this mat for those who struggle with slipping hands! It's worth the investment.

Yoga Blocks

Foam Yoga blocks are great for comfort and perfect for those restorative poses (asanas).

I have used these from the start and they have never let me down. They do easily get nicked by such things as fingernails and if you have a mischievous pet. I don't recommend these for balancing poses, but I don't go to class without them.

Gaiam Essentials Yoga Block (Set Of 2) – Supportive, Soft Non-Slip Foam Surface For Yoga, Pilates, Meditation

Wood Yoga blocks are perfect for stability and especially supportive for balancing. They can also feel great and level up your practice for restorative poses (example: Supported Bridge).

If you attend my Yoga at the Park classes, ask me about purchasing blocks that are designed and made special by me at ashlylonstreth@gmail.com

Yoga Blanket

My favorite prop to bring to any class! From the relaxing Yin Yoga to sweaty Vinyasa, this blanket is a must. Fold it, use it under your knees, use it as a pillow in restorative poses, or cover up for Savasana.

Canyon Creek Mexican Style Falsa Yoga Blanket (Mixed)

Yoga Straps

If you're looking to save some money, I just recommend using the Yoga mat strap that usually comes with the mat. If you are looking to buy a good strap however for your practice; I recommend the following 2 straps.

Tumaz Yoga Strap/Stretch Bands [15+ Colors, 6/8/10 Feet Options] with Extra Safe Adjustable D-Ring Buckle, Durable and Comfy Delicate Texture - Best for Daily Stretching, Physical Therapy, Fitness

DEHUB Stretch Strap, Elastic Yoga Stretching Strap, Multi-Loop for Physical Therapy, Pilates, Yoga, Dance & Gymnastics Exercise and Flexible Pilates Stretch Band
